Roland Emmerich is best known for his explosive, literally, the big budget blockbuster action movies, with a CV as Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012. The area would have been a return to the genre of alien invasion, a doomsday scenario last addressed in his masterpiece to date, the massive success of Independence Day (1996).
